A PACK IN THE MIST

Das WIRE WORKS PROJECT befindet sich in Hallen einer ehemaligen Drahtfabrik, auf einem größtenteils verlassenen, industriellen Gelände zwischen Flussstrom und Waldrand in Derbyshire, England. Früher wie heute ist die Gegend von den schwankenden Wetterlagen und dem Einfluss, wie der Nutzung von Naturkräften geprägt. Während meiner Residence entstand die Installation A PACK IN THE MIST, die der ungewöhnlich kalten Wetterlage mit thermochromen Oberflächen und warmen Wasserdampf. Verwendete Materialien wurden vor Ort gesammelt und zusammen getragen. Mit Tannennadeln gefüllte Beutel imitieren Sandsäcke, die beschweren und für den Notfall einer Überschwemmung bereit liegen. In der Unklarheit des Nebels fügen sich textile Flächen zusammen und bilden neue Körper. Gäste hinterlassen temporäre Spuren auf Sitzflächen. Wärme wird kurzfristig sichtbar bevor sie sich im kalten Raum verliert.

The WIRE WORKS PROJECT is located in the halls of a former wire factory, on a largely derelict industrial site between a river stream and the edge of river stream and woodland edge in Derbyshire, England. In the past, as today, the area is characterized by the fluctuating weather conditions and the influence and use forces of nature. During my residency, I created the installation A PACK IN THE MIST, which the unusually cold weather conditions with thermochromic surfaces and warm water vapor. The materials used were collected and gathered on site. Bags filled with Bags filled with pine needles imitate sandbags, which provide weight and are ready in case of an emergency flood. Textile surfaces merge together in the haziness of the fog and form new bodies. Guests leave temporary traces on seating surfaces. Warmth becomes visible for a short time before it is lost in the cold room.
